Iraq’s first medical incinerator was provided by Inciner8
Inciner8 have supplied an i8-M20 to The Ministry of Health in Iraq. The Ministry of Health in Iraq is a well-established department formed over 100 years ago. It was a privilege to help them in creating a waste solution that suited their needs, and also sent a beacon of hope as being the first Medical incinerator to be used within the country.
Medical waste is posing a growing problem in Iraq, jeopardizing the health of staff, patients, disposal workers, and others coming into contact with the often hazardous materials discarded by hospitals and other healthcare sites every day.
Incinerators have been well documented over the past 20 years for improving biosecurity and allowing for a more effective and potentially cheaper way of managing waste in a singular location. The Iraq Ministry of Health clearly wanted to achieve these benefits so contacted us to help achieve these goals. We supplied them with an i8-M20 which is one of the smaller incinerators in our range but still has all the benefits and features of a premium incinerator such as top-loading design and a secondary chamber. They chose this model for its mobility and its small footprint which meant it could be used in a variety of places through the city of Baghdad in which the incinerator was located.
The incinerator is being used to destroy a wide range of medical waste from sharps, to used bandages, and expired pharmaceutical goods. It is also being used as a test for a large national-wide study to showcase the benefits incinerators can have for medical clinics and hospitals.
Here at Inciner8 we want to not only grow knowledge but increase awareness, and help countries overcome challenges and help governments and businesses find the true benefits of incineration. Of course, it is not the perfect solution for every waste type but it should be looked at as the perfect waste solution for a wide range of hard to destroy or high-risk types of waste that put potential lives at risk, and for that alone incineration is a cornerstone in the waste industry.
